In the world of automotive maintenance, some tasks might seem like minor details, but they can significantly impact your vehicle's performance and longevity. If you've upgraded to a Pipercross Air Filter, one such task is cleaning your vehicles air filter to ensure optimal engine airflow and filtration. This guide will walk you through the correct Pipercross cleaning procedure to ensure that you keep your vehicles engine breathing easy without voiding your air filters lifetime warranty!

Maintenance Schedule:
We recommend cleaning your Pipercross air filter in accordance to your vehicle manufacturers recommended service intervals. If your vehicle is driven off-road or in dusty conditions, consider cleaning your air filter more regularly.

What you'll need:
- A soft bristle brush
- Warm, low pressure water
- Pipercross Air Filter Cleaner
- (optional) Pipercross Dirt Retention Additive
- (optional) Gloves

Step 1, Removal:
Firstly, locate your vehicles air box within the engine bay. It's typically a black plastic box situated beside the engine. Unfasten the clips or undo the screws to open it, taking care to not drop an screws into the engine bay. Carefully remove the foam air filter, taking note of its orientation to ensure correct reinstallation later.

Step 2, Dry Cleaning:
Gently remove any loose dirt and debris using a soft bristle brush or by simply tapping the air filter lightly against a clean surface. This initial cleaning step helps remove larger particles and prevents excessive dirt from contaminating the wash water.

Step 3, Cleaning:
Liberally apply Pipercross Air Filter Cleaner to the filter and lightly agitate with a soft bristle brush. When the entirety of the filter has been brushed, allow to soak for approximately 5 minutes.

Step 4, Rinsing:
Rinse the filter with warm, low pressure water from the clean side of the filter to the dirty side.

Step 5, Drying:
Allow the filter to dry naturally! Do NOT apply any heat or leave in direct sunlight.

Step 6, Inspection:
Repeat the above steps, if necessary, until the filter is completely clean.

Step 7, Oiling (optional):
If your Pipercross Air Filter requires oiling, follow this step (If you are unsure whether your filter requires oiling, don't hesitate to contact us to find out). Shake Pipercross Dirt Retention Additive well before use. Spray a light mist over the dirty side of the air filter and allow to set for at least one hour before reinstallation. Ensure that you do NOT over-oil your filter to avoid contaminating your vehicles MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor.

Step 8, Reinstallation:
When you are satisfied with the cleanliness of the air filter, reinstall into your vehicle. Make sure that the orientation of the air filter in the airbox is correct and that all clips and screws are re-fitted correctly.

Warranty Information:
The above steps must be followed in order to keep your Pipercross Air Filters' lifetime warranty intact - failure to do so may result in premature deterioration of your air filter.
